Q-Switched Nd: YAG Laser Clinical Infomation

The energy of Q-Switched Nd: YAG Laser can be highly absorbed by the blue and black melanin. By the high power but very short pulses of laser light, the melanin will be fragmented so small that they can be metabolized by the lymphatic system or be egested out of the body. Thus the tattoo or other pigmentations will be removed without injury to normal tissue. The treatment is safe and convenient without downtime or side effects.

1064nm Wavelength: It takes off black and dark blue tattoo pigment, especially for tattoo eyebrows, dark color around the eyes, Lentigines, flecks, age spots pigmentation etc.

532nm Wavelength: It gets rid of red and brown tattoos, especially for the red tattoo eyebrows and lips and shallow coffee color flecks.

Tattoo Removal

It is estimated that approximately 15% of Americans have tattoos, with 36% of those aged 25-29 having at least one tattoo. Many of these individuals express regret over time in having this procedure done, creating a major opportunity for physicians interested in providing tattoo removal services.

During the process of tattooing, tattoo pigment ("ink") is driven into the skin and deposited within the skin's dermal layer. Left untouched, the majority of the entrapped pigment will remain intact indefinitely. QSLAS selectively targets and destroys tattoo pigments while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed and intact. The body then eliminates the resulting smaller tattoo ink particles via the lymphatic system.

Pigmented Lesions

A vast majority of individuals have some type of pigmented lesions. Some are born with prominent pigmented lesions, birthmarks, café-au-lait spots, or freckles, which can be cosmetically troublesome if on the face, neck or other visible area. Other lesions develop over time. Age spots (solar lentigines) can be cosmetically bothersome. Most adults develop them over years of sun exposure. Women also acquire unwanted pigmented lesions due to hormonal changes.

In the past, the most effective remedy for pigmented lesions was to cover them with make-up. Recent endeavors in removal such as cryo-surgery and chemical agents have been attempted, but often leave scarring or hyper/hypo-pigmentation. A need has existed for an effective, patient-friendly modality. QSLAS is the perfect solution. QSLAS is able to target and remove pigmented lesions through selective photothermolysis, the same process, which allows convenient and safe removal of remove tattoos.
